We were engaged by the University of North Carolina Department of Psychiatry to develop an application for their respected eating disorders program. The app allows patients to track their eating activity and moods in a simple, discrete way.
Self-monitoring is a critical component of eating disorder treatment, helping patients and providers identify triggers, behavior patterns, recovery trends, and drivers of change.
Encourage successfully enhances the appeal and reduces the perceived burden of self-monitoring. Smartphones are ubiquitous, discreet, and provide accurate time stamps. For many, they are the default platform for fun and utility, and provide an effective context for this kind of support.
