Small Planet

Disney Storybook Deluxe platform

We partnered with Disney to pioneer a new way for kids to read and enjoy classic tales.

A New Reading Experience

In early 2010, Disney Publishing Worldwide asked us to help create a reading app for the recently announced iPad. Based on a familiar classic, Toy Story Read-Along was an entirely new reading experience for a new medium. We’re still delighted that Steve Jobs chose to present it onstage during the iPad Keynote.

Hands on with Toy Story Read-Along

Since then, we’ve been able to evolve the platform and continue improving the reading experience over many celebrated titles.

Frozen: Storybook Deluxe

The companion app to the blockbuster animated feature film, Frozen: Storybook Deluxe lets readers follow the adventures of Anna and Elsa while enjoying a series of wintry activities along the way.

A new, dual-orientation interface tells the tale from two perspectives at once, maintaining our commitment to innovate with every title.

Turning Away From Page Turns

Brave and Tangled, introduced a parallax-based scrolling interface to the platform in place of the more common page turn. The result is a more fluid and dynamic way to advance through the story, as well a more intuitive marriage of content to device.

Game Time

Each Storybook Deluxe features at least one unique game that brings a plot point or theme of the story to life. The games are often integrated with the narrative, creating more reading engagement.

Beyond Reading

Each title includes record your own narration, word highlighting, and embedded animations, as well as activities like puzzles and coloring. Many of these features were introduced with Toy Story and have since become standards of the medium.
